Natalie Montognese: Natalie’s father is an artist, so she has been influenced by art since she was a little girl. Her dad would set up canvases for all the children and they would paint for hours. Since these early days, Natalie has had a passion for art – and more specifically, the inherent freedom of abstract painting. In 2004, her life was devastated by the murder of her only brother Zack. Natalie and her family were crippled with the pain, and it remains with them every day. Natalie needed a way to express her emotions, so she found an outlet in painting. After 16 years of painting, she noticed something different - her creativity and emotions have connected to create her own unique style of artistry. Her emotions and memories about Zack are in every single painting. Natalie honors and remembers her brother’s life by expressing her gratitude and love through her art. A native Charlottean, Natalie graduated from the Northwest School of the Arts in Charlotte and The Art Institute of Charlotte in 2003. |
