                            "It's Beautiful Here"

"I paint on wood using either acrylics or oils in combination with a clear medium and varnish.  Using a glazing technique I am able to let the grain of the wood peek through and finish with a smooth surface.  I sketch my subjects and ideas first, but allow the process and the wood grain direct my work as I paint. Observing and drawing is the basis for all of my work.  In that way I can capture the immediate gesture and expression of a person.  I love the immediacy of drawing from life, especially when people are not aware.  When the drawing hits the wood and I start to paint I can feel the ordinary begin to express the spiritual.

My continuing evolution in the art I produce brings me increased enlightenment and peace.  The whole process never ceases to amaze me!"
