Every Thursday 6 - 8 pm           $30.00/session (pay per class)

Come every Thursday night to learn the techniques of oil painting with local professional artist Paul Hastings.  Paul will offer guidance and gentle criticisms as you paint your selected subject in a gallery setting.  Prior painting experience is not necessary.

Classes will be held at the Green Rice Gallery in the heart of the NoDa Arts District. 

What to bring to class:
·         An image or subject that you would like to paint (i.e. a photograph, image from a magazine, a sketch, or simply use the still life we 

          will set up in class)
·         Several brushes – 2-3 of your favorites
·         Oil paints – recommended basic colors: French Ultramarine, Cobalt Blue, Cerulean, Cadmium Yellow Medium, Lemon Yellow, Sap

          Green, Viridian, Paynes Grey, Ivory Black, Titanium White, Cadmium Red Light, Alizarin Crimson, Yellow Ochre, Burnt Umber, Raw

          Umber, Burnt Sienna, or just the oil paints you already own.
·         Medium – liquin, gamsol, etc.
·         Disposable or permanent palette
·         Palette knife
·         Painting surface (support): any size pre-primed, stretched, cotton canvas or pre-primed panel
·         Easel

·         Roll of paper towels

Optional to bring:
·         Your favorite beverage or snack

·         A friend!

We supply:
·         Clean up materials – mineral spirits, rags, soap

·         A still life set up in the gallery for you to paint
