Dwight E. Hartsell

"My love for making things from wood started at an early age.  High school workshop was my first exposure to woodworking tools.  From there I progressed to home building, furniture, and cabinet making as well as hundreds of items that were made using a scroll saw."

Dwight purchased his first woodturning lathe in 1995 and has studied with numerous world-renound woodturning artists, learning about bowls, vessels and platters.  His present work consists of embellishing platters and bowls with pyrography (woodburning) and painting.

Dwight has done demonstrations at churches, schools, the NC Woodturners Assoc. in Hickory and the Charlott Woodturners.  He has been past Program Chariman for th NC Woodturners Assoc., Carolina Mountain Woodturners Assoc., Charlotte Woodturners Assoc., and the National American Association of Woodturners.  He has taught Woodturning at the Ice House Center in Davidson, NC, privately in his home workshop and at a mission outside of Arequipa, Peru.
